Using a plugin
WordPress has plugins for almost anything. Adsense code is not an excuse and we have a plugin for that. A plugin which will allow you to make changes to Header would do perfectly. Here we will use the plugin
Insert Headers and Footers plugin which is even recommended by Google.
- Install the plugin “Insert Headers and Footers”
After installing activate the plugin
- Click on Insert Headers and Footers option in the WordPress Settings menu.
WordPress settings is available in the left side. Image is shown below
- Enter the Adsense Code snippet in the section “Scripts in Header” as shown in the image.
Whatever is available in this section will be printed in the header section of every WordPress pages and posts of your website.
- Click on Save and you are good to go now.
This will insert the adsense code in every pages/posts of your website.
- Now login to the adsense account and select “I’ve pasted the code into my site” option and click Done.
Now google will validate your site if the code is available in the webpage and they will start reviewing your application.

Without using a plugin
It’s super easy to add Google Adsense to WordPress if you’re using a theme based on the popular Genesis Framework. There are two ways in the Genesis theme to add adsense.
- Using the Original Theme settings page
- Using the theme settings in the Customizer page
Using Original Theme Settings Page:
Go to Genesis > Theme Settings to configure these settings using the original Theme Settings page.
Add your publisher id which starts with “ca-pub” in the Google Adsense publisher ID text box. and click save.
Using the theme settings in the Customizer page:
Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings > Google AdSense to configure these settings in the WordPress Customizer.

Note: Works only if you are using Genesis Theme. We have not shown how to add the code by editing functions.php files as its not a recommended method.
2. Adding Adsense code to your widgets
Google Ads can also be displayed in Widgets by placing the adsense code in the widgets. To place ads in the widgets, navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.
Add a Custom HTML widget in your desired location of the site and place the adsense code you have copied from Adsense window, Save your widget. This will automatically start showing ads in your website.
